What is happening this fall
Your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) should arrive by late September. It shows what changes for next year. If you have not seen it, call the member services number on your plan card and ask for your 2027 ANOC.
Some plans are ending
If you receive a notice that your plan is ending in 2027, keep it and read the dates carefully. Confirm your enrollment options and deadlines before choosing new coverage.
The five checks to run before December 7
- Will your doctors still take your plan? Call each doctor’s office and ask, “Will you be in my exact Medicare plan’s network in 2027?” Give them the full plan name from your card. A doctor can accept one plan from a company and not another.
- Will your prescriptions still be covered? Look up each medicine, dose, and pharmacy in your plan’s 2027 drug list or use Medicare.gov Plan Compare. A drug can stay covered but move to a higher cost tier.
- Are your medical costs changing? Open your ANOC and compare the 2026 and 2027 amounts for services you use: premium, doctor visits, specialist visits, and hospital stays. Check the plan’s maximum out of pocket limit too. That limit applies to covered medical services and does not include every cost, such as premiums or Part D drug spending.
- Are your extra benefits changing? Check what dental, vision, hearing, and over the counter benefits will actually pay in 2027 and which providers you can use. Count the benefits you expect to use.
- Does the plan still fit your life? New medicines, new doctors, planned procedures, a tighter budget, or time spent outside Utah can all change which plan makes sense.
Got a letter saying your plan ends in 2027?
Keep your termination notice and ask about the enrollment period that applies to you. The annual Open Enrollment Period ends December 7, but a plan termination may give you other enrollment options. In certain situations, you may also have a right to buy a Medigap policy without medical underwriting. Confirm your specific rights and deadlines with Medicare or a licensed agent before making a change.

If money is tight
Programs can help pay Medicare premiums and drug costs, including Extra Help for prescriptions and Medicare Savings Programs. Many people who qualify have never heard of them. If premiums or drug costs are a stretch, ask about these programs during your review.
